Make your business card an invitation

Does your business card give the recipient a reason to visit your site? Or is your website address just another piece of information like your fax number, probably never to be used?

Local businesses probably get more hits on their websites from people who have found the site through print advertising, signs or other local means (like business cards) than they do from search engines. Typically, the reason for a local business to have a website is to be able to tell a longer story about their business and product than they can in any other medium.

So, if you want an opportunity to tell your business story, you need to give someone a reason to visit right away, not just an address to go to in case they think of a reason on their own.

Luckily, that's pretty easy to do! Add some relevant content to your website that will grab their attention - something they can't pass up if they are interested in what you do. Something that is not directly related to trying to sell something, something free, or fun. Then promote it on your business card, in your print advertising, on your brochures and flyers.
